HISTORY
Pray the Bay was formed over a decade ago to unite churches
and ministries for local and regional transformation. Under
the leadership of John Issacs, the pastor of Kingsway Community
Church in San Jose, a number of other pastors and key ministry
leaders began to meet for prayer and discussion about the need
for regional unity. Out of this gathering, a collaboration
began that has helped facilitate large prayer gatherings and
outreaching in San Francisco, Oakland and around the Bay. As
a result, a network of relationships has been developed that
has spun off local pastor’s gatherings and has helped
to give birth to the growing prayer movement around our region.
Throughout the history of the
San Francisco Bay Area there have been a number of groups
that have joined together to facilitate the unity of the
Body of Christ in similar ways. We are thankful for all these
efforts and are committed to working closely with these groups
in the years to come. Yet Pray the Bay is distinct from these
other groups in a few important ways. First, we are ethnically
and doctrinally diverse. Second, we are truly indigenous
pastors and leaders from our region. Third, we are genuinely
committed to the power of prayer to bring transformation.
