SCRIPTURE
Ezekiel 37:3–5
“And he said to me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ And I answered, ‘O Lord God, you know.’ Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.’”
DEVOTIONAL
Dryness can feel final.
In Ezekiel 37, the prophet is brought into a valley filled with bones not just dry, but lifeless. And yet, God asks a question that reframes everything: “Can these bones live?” What looks impossible to us is not impossible to Him.
God does not deny the dryness. He speaks directly into it. He commands His word to be declared and His breath to enter what appears dead. This passage reminds us that spiritual dryness is not the end of the story, it is often the place where revival begins.
Today, we are invited to trust God’s resurrection power. To believe that He can breathe life into hearts, cities, and places that feel barren. And to learn, like Ezekiel, to speak God’s living Word over what looks dry.
PRAYER
by Jessica from Pray The Bay Team
“Father, we ask that You would come and breathe new life into every dry place.
We pray for this region: every county, every city, every neighborhood.
Bring revival. Bring restoration. Bring transformation to the Bay Area.
Breathe on every dead place, every barren place, every place where there seems to be no hope.
Teach us to speak Your living Word over the dry bones in our own lives, just as You commanded Ezekiel.
We trust in Your resurrection power.
In Jesus’ name, amen.”
REFLECTION + INVITATION
Today, don’t assume dryness means death.
Ask God:
Where have I believed it’s “too far gone”?
What areas of my heart need Your breath again?
How can I speak Your Word over places I’ve written off?
Dry bones can live.
God is still breathing.
