SCRIPTURE

John 7:37

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.”

 DEVOTIONAL

We are stepping into a new phase.

The first week exposed our dryness, personally, spiritually, and corporately. Now, we move from awareness into desperation. Not panic, but pursuit. Not striving, but responding.

In John 7, Jesus doesn’t whisper His invitation. He cries out. In the middle of celebration and noise, He makes Himself unmistakably clear: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.” Thirst is not something to suppress, it is an invitation to move toward Him.

Desperation begins when we stop managing our thirst and start answering it. When we acknowledge that nothing else will satisfy and decide to come to Jesus fully, honestly, and urgently.

Today marks the shift. We are no longer just naming what’s missing, we are responding to the call.

PRAYER

by Amanda | Pastor at Experience Church SF

“Jesus, today we declare that we are thirsty.

We are parched, and we are asking You to increase our longing for more of You —

the Living Water, the only One who can truly satisfy us.

Here in the Bay, we are surrounded by water, yet our souls are dry.

We thirst for You.

Increase the deep, inner ache in our souls for more of You.

Draw us closer.

Meet us in our desperation.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

REFLECTION + INVITATION

Today, respond to the invitation.

Ask Jesus:

  • Where have I ignored or minimized my thirst?

  • What would it look like to come to You without hesitation?

  • How can I pursue You more urgently in this season?

Thirst is not the problem.

Ignoring the invitation is.

If you are thirsty… come and drink.
