SCRIPTURE

Psalm 34:8

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

 DEVOTIONAL

Desperation is not meant to leave us empty, it is meant to lead us into encounter.

Psalm 34 does not say learn and see, or hear about and see. It says taste. God invites us beyond information and into experience. Beyond knowing about Him and into knowing Him personally.

As we continue moving through this phase of desperation, today reminds us that God is not distant or withholding. He is good and He invites us to come close enough to experience it for ourselves.

When we taste His goodness, our hunger changes. Our appetite deepens. We no longer settle for substitutes when we’ve encountered the real thing.

Today is an invitation to go deeper to discover more of God than yesterday, and to let our thirst lead us straight into His presence.

PRAYER

by Hannah | Pastor at Home Church + Pray The Bay Director

““Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.

Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”

God, there is no one like You. There is no one like You, Lord, and we exalt You today.

We want to taste and see Your goodness. We want to experience more of You today.

We want to go deeper in You than we did yesterday.

Lord, increase our appetite an appetite to taste and see, an appetite to reach for You again today.

Holy Spirit, do the work in us that only You can.

Create a hunger that goes beyond our own effort or fleshly reach. Lead us into the deeper things of You.

In Jesus’ name, amen.”

REFLECTION + INVITATION

Pause today and ask:

  • Where has my faith become only knowledge instead of experience?

  • What would it look like to truly taste God’s goodness today?

  • How is God inviting me deeper right now?

God is not hiding His goodness.

He is offering it.

Taste and see.
